I had no idea that Burwell had its own website! I used to live in Toyse Lane and went to Burwell Village college many years ago. Some people might recognise my surname and my association with a certain Judo instructor in the Village! regards, Colin E.

Great site. Shame about those who couldn't leave a constructive comment in the Visitors' Book. I lived in Reach Road from 1963 to 1997 and attended the Ness Road Primary School (now sadly gone) and the Village College (once the Secondary Modern School). Anyone who attended these schools, remembers me and would like to email me would be welcome. Cheers.

Just wanted to say what a thorough site we have here.Thankyou. I say thanks because I live in the village and am working to make a millenium wall panel, commissioned by the village college for all of the village to enjoy. I have 'borrowed' some pictures for use on some resource sheets I would like to use in the workshops I am holding with local groups - hope this is ok...? Many thanks.

I too left Burwell in the mid Seventies to live in Indonesia, returned only for a few months before leaving again. Burwell was the best place to grow up - the cow's field, quarry, hollow tree etc - fond memories. Great site !

Wow! what a great website, especially interesting to ex-Burwellians. We left Burwell in October 1998 and emigrated to Kitchener, Ontario, Canada having lived in the village for 33 wonderful years and where our daughters were born and raised. We have very fond memories of friend and neighbours who we hope to see again very soon as we are returning next week to arrange the sale of our house in Spring Close. Look forward to seeing you all soon.

My mum and dad, Bert and Gwen Martin and I (Paula) left Burwell in 1952 to come to New Zealand. They are still alive and kicking, and send greetings to anyone who remembers that" good looking young couple" who lived next door to Dot Grainger in the High Street! We have also been in touch with the Mitchell family, who now live in Tauranga, New Zealand through the Burwell website. Dad's brother, Arthur Martin, is also living in Auckland New Zealand. They are the sons of Florence Warren whose family lived at the Old Brickyard. Does anyone remember us? We'd love an email! Are there any Warrens who may have family history we could tap into....we're interested to know more about a particular branch of the family who may have connections to the descendants of Fletcher Christian, (That well-known Bounty Mutineer). Any clues?

Can you help?
At approx 9.45pm on Tuesday 1st Feb, a white car used my driveway in Spring Close to turn round. In the process they hit the rear of my car hard enough to cause approx 500 pounds of damage. They also left a considerable amount of what appears to be headlamp glass behind. Needless to say the driver reveresed and headed off away from the church at high speed, and I was not able to get any other details. If you know of a white car which has suffered damage to its front lights (probably drivers side) on or around 1st Feb then please contact me at the above email address.
Please also spread this request for help among your friends in Burwell - remember that next time this driver may pick your drive!

Ex-Husband of Janet Taylor This is from an email sent to the website on 25th January 2000:
If anyone knows how to reach Janet Taylor or her family contact me in the USA. I'm her ex-husband and have two children, Craig and Kelly. I've been in hospital for 1 year after being ran over by a lorry doing an illegal u-turn in the motorway. I would very much like to get in contact with them.

I have been checking the web site of my 'home town' of Bourne in Lincolnshire for some months, and love catching up on the news. I can now do this for my new home, maybe I'll find someone I know out there on the ether. Keep up the good work.
